Daniel Nixon Sr., 79, a native of Houma and resident of Harvey, died Sunday, 
Dec. 29, 2013. 

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Community Funeral Home and from 
11 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Gray. 
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, 

with burial in Halfway Cemetery. 

He is survived by his wife, Doretha Lewis Nixon; sons, Daniel Nixon Jr. and 
wife, Cynthia, Leroy and wife, Henrietta, and Carl Nixon and wife, Mary; 
daughters, Janice Williams and husband, Warren, Mary Ann, Erica Lynn Stewart 
and husband, Kevin Sr., LaHelen M. Phllips and husband, Berwick Jr. and Sharon 
Antoine and husband, Lester Jr.; sister, Etha M. Woods; 35 grandchildren; 47 
great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Nixon; son, Jerome Nixon; 
daughter, Patricia Adams; grandson, Donnie Williams; and sisters, Manerva 
Nixon, Edna Ingram and Mary Small. 

Community Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
