Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2014/f1401.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Burtman Andrew Poiencot Sr. passed away peacefully on January 18th, 2014 at 2:45am at home surrounded by his family. He was a native and resident of Dularge, Houma, Louisiana. Visitation will be Wednesday at Chauvin Funeral Home from 4-9pm, Thursday at St. Eloi Church from 9-11am followed by the service and burial in St. Eloi Church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Maxine Fazzio Poiencot of 53 years, two sons, Tate Poiencot and wife Karen, and Troy Poiencot, three grandchildren Justin, Austin and Hannah Poiencot, one sister, Joyce P. Green, three brothers, Russell, Malcom “Mac” and Aloysius “Al” Poiencot and wife Betty, four sister-in-laws, Joyce Fazzio, Vita F. Poiencot, Patricia F. Breaux, and Janice Fazzio, and one brother-in-law, Tommy Fazzio. He is preceded in death by his parents, Enos and Celine Guidry Poiencot, sister, Nell P. Bienvenu, sister-in-law, Marie Louise Roy, and two brother-in- laws, Carl Breaux and Carlo Fazzio Jr. Survived also by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was an active member of the Dularge Fire Department since 1968, was a past fire chief and chairman of the each fire board. The new central station was dedicated and named “The Burt Poiencot Dularge Fire Station” in 2011. He was an active member on the Dularge Recreation Center sicne 1998 and was chairman of the board. He was an active member of the St. Eloi Knights of Columbus #8779 since December 4, 1994 and was Grand Knight from 1999-2001. He was a member and usher of St. Eloi Church. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, the Louisiana Cattleman Association, participated in many National Cutting Horse Association events, and worked with children involved in 4-H. He loved to play golf recreationally and went to tournaments; he was consistent at hitting the ball “A LOT”. He was always there to help cook at every Dularge Fair, any benefit for the community, gumbo cook offs and the Southdown Market. He worked for M&L Tractor Company in the early 1960’s, and Louisiana Land and Exploration Company for twenty-two years till he retired in 1992 as Production Superintendent. He was an active member in his community and would help anyone who was in need. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His mission in life was to do Gods’ work here on Earth. Burtman Andrew Poiencot Sr. was a jewel of a man that will be greatly missed by all. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at or Southern Care Hospice. ======================
