In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6 Gladys Marie Roux Webre, 91, a native and resident of Thibodaux, died on January 24, 2014 in Thibodaux. During her later years and especially, her last, difficult days, Gladys continued to focus on others and appreciate her life’s blessings. Visitation will be on Monday, January 27, 2014 from 9:00AM till funeral time at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00AM at the church, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. She is survived by her daughters, Judie Webre Martinez, Napoleonville, Mary Webre Terracina and husband, Chris, Thibodaux; sons, Preston “Jay” Webre, Jr. and wife, Sydney, Lafayette and Robert Webre and wife, Debi, Thibodaux; sister, Dorris Roux Richard; eight cherished grandchildren, Tim Martinez, Steven Martinez, Ben Martinez and wife, Tara, Douglas Webre and wife, Lexie, Elizabeth Terracina Clause and husband, Donny, Erin Terracina Dagate and husband, Jason, John Terracina and wife, Krista and Ashley Webre. She felt blessed to see each of her grandchildren grow to adulthood and she lovingly focused on their lives with tremendous pride. She is survived by eleven great-grandchildren, her precious joys--Shaelyn, Timothy, Seth, Caroline and Molly Martinez, Cade and Claire Clause, Emma and James Dagate, Fisher and Jack Webre. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved. Gladys was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Preston Joseph Webre, Sr.; parents, Venance J and Vivian Hebert Roux; sisters, Jeanne Roux Tipton and Joyce Roux Jones; father-in-law, Eddie J. Webre and mother-in-law, Amy Boudreaux Webre; and former son-in-law, James “Jimmy” Martinez. A devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Joseph Co-Cathedral, Gladys was a retired educator, a second grade teacher at Thibodaux Lower Elementary and at St. Joseph Elementary in later years. She was a gracious lady whose life was centered on faith, kindness to others and love for her family. No matter her life’s circumstance, she persevered with each transition and looked for ‘silver linings’. She traveled to many countries, but found more enjoyment in taking care of her home and family. Even in her later years, her intellect remained alert and sharp, primarily because of her vibrant interest in other people. Reading and watching the “Jeopardy” game show were daily diversions that stimulated her keen mind. As she advanced in age, she sometimes said that it would be quite nice if, after her passing, loved ones would choose a favorite, personal memory in silently thinking of her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity in honor of Mrs. Gladys. The family is grateful to Dr. Chester G. Boudreaux and Staff, Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, Audubon Health and Rehab, St. Catherine’s Hospice, devoted friends and Elder Street neighbors.
