Velma Mae Wilkerson, 72, a native and resident of Morgan City, died at 6:30 
p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2014. 

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at Mt. Zion Baptist 
Church in Morgan City. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the 
church, 

with burial in Morgan City Cemetery. 

She is survived by her stepson, Albert Wilkerson Jr., of Dallas, Texas; 
daughters, Anita W. Richardson, of Patterson, and Stephanie Riley, of Houston, 
Texas; sister, Debra Nixon; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 
nine step-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Van Nixon Sr. and Estelle Carter; 
husband, Albert Wilkerson Sr.; and brother, Van Nixon Jr. 

Jones Funeral Home in Morgan City is in charge of arrangements.
