Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday at St. Mary's Nativity Catholic Church in Raceland. A Mass in celebration of Nelson's life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial St. Mary's Nativity Catholic Church cemetery in Raceland. He is survived by his wife, Velma Rodriguez Falgout; daughter, Cynthia Falgout Plaisance; son, Nelson Joseph Falgout III; three grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and three step-children, Diane Saadi, Cheryl Breaux, and Velma "Sue" Westbrook. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Bardwell Falgout; parents, Nelson J. Falgout Sr. and Alfreda Walker Chauvin; and sisters, Edna F. Bernard and Hazel F. LeBlanc. Nelson was a retired employee of Furlow Laugfton for more than 25 years, a graduate of Raceland High School, and attended Delgado College. He was a veteran of World War II and served as sergeant in the U.S. Marine Air Corps in the Pacific. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, a life time member of the VFW, a life time member of the American Legion, and a past member of the Grand Marshall Club in Raceland. The family would like to give a heartfelt "thank you" to the Lafourche Home for the Aged, to his faithful and loving caregivers at the home; his lovely wife, Velma, who was always there for him; and to many supportive people throughout his difficult time. Thanks also goes to the doctors, nurses, aides, and staff of Thibodaux Regional Medical Hospital for their excellent care, kindness, and compassion during Nelson's illness.
