"Sam Houston" Savoie, 82, a resident of Larose, passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2014. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Larose. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his sons, Wayne Savoie and wife, Mary Grace, Glenn Savoie and wife, Denise, and Mark Savoie and wife, Trudy; and grandchildren, Corey, Antoinette, Miranda, Camille, Jess, Aubrey, and Gabe Savoie. He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. Savoie and Sidonia Schouest Savoie; brothers, Sergis, Alton, Horace, Forrest, and Earl Savoie; and sisters, Jane Plaisance, Annie Pennison, Vernice Ordoyne and Elta Fonseca. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the VFW. He retired from Valentine Paper Mill after 42 years of service. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. Houston enjoyed woodworking and carpentry. Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland is in charge of arrangements ======================
