Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2014/f1402.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Donald Newman Smith, 80, of Houma LA passed away at his home on Sunday, February 9, 2014 He was born in Beauregard Mississippi, to the late Van Johnson Smith and Elma Smith. Don served in the Navy during the Korean War earning 4 medals. After his discharge, he graduated from Phoenix College of Mortuary Science and eventually owned a funeral home in Mt. Vernon MO. He later served as a peace officer in Phoenix AZ, managed Beatrice Foods Dairy in St. Joseph MO, and eventually settled in Houma where he was employed by Cavin's Corporation before retiring. He was a member of the Moila Shrine Temple and a 32nd degree Mason. In retirement, he enjoyed golfing and fishing with his sons. He lived his life with integrity and always provided for his family. He is loved by family and friends and will be sadly missed. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Smith of Houma. A daughter Idonna Lawrence and husband Jeff of Springfield, MO; three sons, Ronald Scott Smith and wife Tracy of Joplin MO, Bradley Frank Smith of Joplin MO, and Michael Van- J Smith of Mobile AL; 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his baby daughter, Rhonda Sue Smith. A private service will be held in Carl Junction MO. ======================
