Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at First Corinthian Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in Southdown Cemetery. She is survived by her sons, Joseph C. (Sharanda) Brown Jr., Melvin Brown Sr., and James Brown, all of Houma; daughters, Marsha B. Sept, of Baker, Gail M. Taylor, of Houma, Martha A. Brown, of Columbus, Ohio, Hazel B. Wallace, of Ft. Sill, Okla., and Doris Brown Young, of Nausa, N.H.; brothers, Harold Hawkins Sr. and Lionel Hawkins, of Houma, and Dolton F. Hawkins, of Chicago, Ill.; sister, Neomi Poindexter, of Houma; 24 grandchildren; and 17 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Brown Sr.; parents, Jimmie and Hazel Aitkens Hawkins; sons, John and Dalton Brown; and brothers, Eddie Hawkins Sr. and Jimmie K. Hawkins Jr. Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. ======================
