Ernest "Cowboy" Joseph Brunet Sr., 75, a native and resident of Pointe-aux-
Chenes, passed away peacefully at home with his family Wednesday, March 5, 
2014.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Pointe-aux-Chenes Fire 
Station and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at St. Charles Borromeo 
Catholic Church in Pointe-aux-Chenes. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 
a.m. Saturday at the church, 

with burial in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church cemetery in Pointe-aux-
Chenes.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ophelia Naquin Brunet; sons, Carl 
Couvillier and wife, Linda, Charles Couvillier Sr. and wife, Laurell, James 
Brunet and wife, Tracy, and Ernest "Ernie" Jr., Malcolm, and Melvin Brunet; 
daughter, Rosalee Chaisson and husband, Wilfred Jr.; brothers, Raleigh and 
Elsee P. Brunet; sisters, Eola Theriot, Geraldine Domangue, Shirley Trosclair, 
Nancy Authement, and Patricia Naquin; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 
and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Brunet and Leola Brunet; son, 
Harlen Brunet; brother, Norlton Brunet; sister, Marlyn B. Domangue; 
grandchildren, Casey, Jarred, and Justin Chaisson; and great-grandchildren, 
Christian and Tristian Sternberger, and Kaynen Chaisson.

The family would like to give special thanks to the American Cancer Society and 
the staff at Oschner and Journey Hospice. Thanks for everyone's prayers and 
support.
