"Poppy" Crochet Sr. 70, a native of Houma and resident of Youngsville, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014, after a long battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Falgout Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Carolyn Ledet Crochet; sons, Michael A. Crochet Jr. and wife, Jan, and Brent J. Crochet Sr.; daughter, Shanna M. Verdin and husband, Jason; brother, Lee A. Crochet and wife, Beulah; nieces, Wendy Hirsch and Melissa Gray; grandchildren, Jade, Lyndsy, Katie, Ryan, Britney, Dylan, and Brent J. Crochet Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Peyton Crochet, Jane Leger, and Kourtlyn Verdin. He was preceded in death by his father, Aloysius Crochet; mother, Una Savoie Crochet; sister, Myrna Crochet Gray; and grandparents, Eugene and Mae Eschete Savoie. Michael proudly worked for Greenes Energy Group for the last 24 years and was well known and respected by his peers in the oil industry his entire career. Thank you to all his family, friends and loved ones for the constant prayers and support extended to him during his illness. Special thanks goes to Dr. Joseph Brierre and all the staff at Louisiana Oncology Associates for the excellent care provided to him. Thank you to Hospice of Acadiana as well.
