Michael Hal Martin, 58, a life-long resident of Galliano, LA, passed away 
peacefully, surrounded by his family on March 4th, 2014. 

Martin, the Lafourche Parish Assessor, is survived by his devoted wife of 33 
years, Tammy Lathrop Martin, and adoring son, Hal Michael Martin (Alexandra). 
He is also survived by his parents, Leroy and Dot Martin and in-laws, Woody and 
Joyce Lathrop; brother, Perry Martin and sister, Lisa Martin; sister-in-law, 
Mitzi Johnson (Kenneth); nephew and nieces, Jayden Lathrop, Danielle Perez 
(Jayson Kiffe), Katelyn and Camille Richard, Kaitlyn Chauvin (Samuel Edwards, 
Jr.) and great nieces and nephew, Isabelle and Sophie Perez, and Trinity 
Edwards.

Martin is past president of the Lafourche Parish Bar Association, Rotary Club, 
Lafourche Chamber, Louisiana Assessors' Association and past Co-Chairman of the 
American Cancer Society. He was also a member of The Knights of Columbus, 
L.O.P.A. and various other organizations.

Services will be held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden 
Meadow, LA on Friday, March 7th, 2014. Visitation will take place from 8:30am 
to 11:00am with a Mass of Christian burial to follow. 

Interment will take place at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery.
