Hilda Matherne Breaux, 98, a native of Bourg and resident of Westwego, passed 
away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family Monday, evening, 
April 7, 2014. 

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at Westside Leitz-
Eagan Funeral Home in Marrero. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 p.m. 
Saturday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Westwego, 

with burial in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church cemetery in Westwego. 

She was the beloved wife of the late Clyde Joseph Breaux; mother of Evelyn 
Freeman, Deanna (Frank) Hill, Kathy (Larry) Van Pelt, ReneŽ (Craig) Mansfield, 
and the late Steven Joseph Breaux; grandmother of 11; great-grandmother of 19; 
and great-great-grandmother of 9; daughter of the late Clairville P. Matherne 
and Nora Boquet Matherne; sister of Terral Matherne, Marie LeBoeuf, Lydia 
LeBlanc, Lorraine Fanguy, Carolyn Matherne, and the late Ray (wife, Nancy) 
Matherne, Hillman Matherne, Francis Matherne, and Elaine Orgeron; also survived 
by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church for 72 
years. 
She was a homemaker, a great cook, and a loving mother. 

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Egan 
Hospice, most especially Charlotte and Lou, and her sitter, Marilyn. 

Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home in Marrero is in charge of arrangements.
