Growing up, Carla lived in Starkville, Miss., Holcomb, Miss., and Thibodaux, graduating from Thibodaux High School in 1969, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. Upon graduation, she attended Nicholls State University in Thibodaux. Working as a telephone operator for South Central Bell in Houma, she transferred to work in the Columbus office. On weekends, she would visit her grandparents and aunt, Mary (Charles) Turner in Amory, Miss. Through her matchmaker, Aunt Mary, Carla met her husband, Homer Reed "Ricky" Cadden Jr., son of Homer and Mamie Cadden. Carla and Ricky were married June 21, 1974, and lived a very full life. Ricky worked for Exxon and on offshore oil rigs. He worked in Bergen, Norway, and Thibodaux. They made lifelong friends while in Norway. They loved to travel and see new countries, and were very generous people. Carla was a member of the Church of Christ, being baptized at age 9 in Holcomb. Faithful, she loved her church family like her own, especially the church in Houma. Carla taught children's and women's Bible classes, planned special retreats, organized Ladies' Days, and served as a camp cook. She excelled at planning and organization for the church. Having a great mind for memorization, Carla always remembered family and friends' birthdays and special occasions. Having battled various illnesses for the last several years, Carla is now at peace. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, Miss., is in charge of arrangements. ======================
