Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2014/f1404.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Harold "Buddie" George Chauvin Jr., 83, a native and resident of Houma, died Sunday, April 5 at 12:05 a.m. after a long battle with frontal lobe dementia at Chateau Terrebonne Health Care. He has donated his body to the Louisiana Bureau of Anatomical Sciences at L.S.U. in New Orleans. Visitation in memoriam will be held Friday, April 11 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Deretha Normand Chauvin, children, Harold George Chauvin III and wife Vickie of Abita Springs, Michael A. Chauvin of Houma, and Jeannine Chauvin Bergeron and fiance Paul Anderton of Houma. Step daughters Amanda Clark and husband Johnny of Destin, Florida, and Lily Cardneaux of Gonzales. 9 grandchildren, Phillip, Sarah, Christopher and Mitchell Bergeron, Shane, Jene' and Sophie Chauvin, Michael and Michelle Chauvin, and 4 step-grandchildren, Jade Jacob, Evan Paternostro, Bradley and Kimberly Clark, plus 4 great grand-children and 2 step great grand-children. Brother Donald J. Chauvin and wife Betty, sisters Sybil Boudreaux and husband Jimmy, Yvonne Daigle, Patricia Autin of Houma and Beverly Carrol and husband James of Gretna and brother-in-law Walter Prather of Houma. He is preceded in death by his brother Eugene (Gene) Chauvin, his sister Maybelle Prather, his brother in law Buford Autin Jr, and his parents Harold George Chauvin Sr., and Irene Thibodeaux Chauvin. Harold was a champion distance runner in track at Terrebonne High School in Houma and Loyola University in New Orleans. He was inducted into the Loyola Athletic Hall of Fame with his team in the year 2004 and then again for himself in the year 2007. He still holds many records for distance running at both schools. He joined the U. S. Army as a Lieutenant in the Military Police in 1954. Then he joined his father's family in business at Chauvin Brothers in Chauvin until he opened his own furniture store, Imperial Furniture Mart, in 1967 in Houma which was in business for 40 years. In lieu of flowers, his family would like donations made to the Alzheimer's Association, Louisiana Chapter, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. in his name or visit alz.org.
