Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2014/f1405.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Erjie J Chiasson, 84, resident and native of Lockport, La. passed away on May 26, 2014. Erjie was born August 26, 1929 to Jules and Nora Chiasson. A lifelong resident of Lockport, at 20 years old Erjie joined the United States Army, he completed basic training and was deployed to Germany. While in Germany Erjie signed up for a tour in Korea where he was engaged in combat. He served his country proudly. Once Erjie returned home from the Korean War he found employment at the Lockport Western Auto Hardware Store. Soon he would become self employed at Erjie's Hardware and Appliance. In 1960, Erjie started a new venture that developed him into one of South Louisiana's greatest Chef's. After 25 years in the restaurant business serving the public, Erjie joined Otto Candies as chef, where he worked 17 years before retiring. He was very civic minded and served as an Alderman for the town of Lockport and he was a board member and president of the Atchafalaya Levee Board for a number of years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 83 and a life time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Raceland, La. and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Lockport Council. In 1978 Erjie married Gertrude F. Forrestier his wife of 36 years, through this marriage he became an instant father and soon a grandparent and great grandparent. He was a good husband, great step dad, wonderful grandfather and great grandfather. He was "Pawpaw" Erjie enjoyed sports, in his early years he traveled the country following LSU football. In his later years he enjoyed watching LSU baseball, basketball and football from home. Cooking became a hobby for Erjie and he enjoyed preparing meals for his family and friends. He fought life's last days with dignity and grace, we will miss "Pawpaw" but we know he is alive in the arms of our redeemer Jesus Christ, rest well. He is survived by daughters, Stephanie Dandry and husband Randy of Raceland; Sheila Ballou Adams and husband Camille of Raceland; sons Sidney Forrestier and wife Peggy of Thibodaux; Stuart Forrestier and wife Karen of Gheens. Grandchildren; Jennifer Dandry; Josh Dandry; John Forrestier and wife Sarah; John Cherry and wife Kelly; Anna Ballou; Nicholas Ballou; Kelcey Forrestier; Addi Forrestier; Maci Forrestier Great grandchildren; Kaitlyn Callais; Devyn Cavalier; Samantha Cherry; Jade Dandry; Jonah Dandry Siblings; Lois Deroche, Audry Ourbe He was preceded in death by his wife Gertrude F, Chiasson, parents Jules and Nora Chiasson; brothers, Warren "Guy" Chiasson, Werlin "Bay" Chiasson, Hubert Chiasson and sister Ethel Adams. We are so grateful for all the love, support and prayers from family and friends. Thanks to Stat Home Healthcare and Journey Hospice for outstanding care and compassion. Services are at 6:00pm to 8:00pm on May 29th at Falgout Funeral,600 Church Street in Lockport and 9:00am to 11:00am on May 30th at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport followed by a mass of Christian burial with burial to follow in Holy Savior Catholic Church cemetery in Lockport.
