January 28, 1934 - May 6, 2014

Alvin "Putut" Gagneaux, 80, a native of Chacahoula and resident of Thibodaux, 
died peacefully at Ochsner Hospital around 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2014, with 
his family by his side.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Friday at Saint Genevieve 
Catholic Church in Thibodaux, La. Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. at the 
church, 

with burial at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Harriet Miranda and husband 
Tony; granddaughter, Megan Miranda; companion Evelyn Blanchard; one brother, 
James Gagneaux; and many loving nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria Durocher of many years; parents, 
Romain and Sarah Gagneaux; five brothers, Howard, Harry, Douglas, Abel, and 
Kirvey Gagneaux; and two sisters, Delores Bennett and Marion Toups.

He will be remembered as a sweet, tenderhearted man who always had a smile on 
his face. He worked as a welder for many years and spent time working in 
Scotland. 
As an avid LSU fan, he did lots of tailgating with friends. He also enjoyed 
live music and couldn't be kept off the dance floor. Playing cards, especially 
pedro, was also a favorite pastime of his. 
His granddaughter, Meg, was a source of great joy and pride. 

He will be deeply missed by so many who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, donations for mass in his name would be greatly 
appreciated.

Thibodaux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
