"Coon" Martin, 83, a native of Golden Meadow and resident of Cut Off, died at 8:11 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2014. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off. A Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Wednesday at the church, with burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Church cemetery in Cut Off. He is survived by his wife, of 63 years, Blanche Galjour Martin; son, Chris (Winola Duet) Martin; daughters, Iris M. (Lorris J.) Lathrop and Kelly M. (Ronnie J.) Hebert; grandchildren, Toni M. (Greg) Curole, Jason (Mandy) Martin, Nicole M. Angelette, Natalie Lathrop, Steven Lathrop and Kalob J. Burris; and great-grandchildren, Christopher Curole, Gregory Curole, Mary Allis Matherne, Kayden Martin, Vivian Martin, Brett Angelette, Lauren Angelette, Nathan Angelette, Isabella Guidry, Kirstynn Guidroz and Allis Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Duard Martin and Ada Lefort Martin; and brother, Vigor "V.J." Martin. Elson was an avid fisherman and crabber. He was featured in the August 1996 edition of National Geographic magazine for a story on coastal erosion. He was retired from Haliburton. Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Cut Off is in charge of arrangements. ======================
