Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Garden of Memories Funeral Home at 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie. A celebration of his life will be held after the visitation at his daughter's home (Heather Gabler). He was a loving husband to Paula Guidry Bowler and adored his children, Karen Stringfellow Bowler (Joseph Gainford), Jason Galjour, James Bowler, Heather Galjour Gabler (Glenn Gabler), and Emma Bowler (Chrissy Irwin). His life will live on through his granddaughters, Gabrielle, Katie and Emily Gabler. He is survived by his brother, Michael Bowler, of Gt. Yarmouth, England, (Margaret), along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Colin Michael and Kathleen Mettheringham Bowler. Chris was a lung transplant recipient and was grateful for the additional time that was bestowed to him to be with his family and friends. Chris was born in Nottingham, England, and moved to the United States in 1980. He became a very proud American citizen in 1992. As a teenager, he was a member of the Sea Cadets in the Royal Navy, which inspired him to become a marine engineer. He did a five year apprenticeship with Mitchel Diesel, of Nottingham, England. Chris was retired from Tidewater Marine Inc., where he was worldwide manager of maintenance and repair. He had a passion for woodworking and was enjoying his new lifestyle of RV living. Chris was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association, American Coach Association and Crusin Cajuns.
