Col. Camile J. Chaisson Jr., 83, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Kenner, 
passed away Monday, June 23, 2014. 

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until funeral time Thursday at St. Joseph Co-
Cathedral in Thibodaux. A Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Thursday at 
the church, 

with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux. 

He is survived by his second wife of 35 years, Margorie Nobles Chaisson; son, 
Dr. Camile L. Chiasson and wife, Jeanne Peltier Chiasson; granddaughters, Ann 
Marie Chiasson Currie and husband, Brian Currie, Stephanie Chiasson Toups and 
husband, Dr. Justin Toups, and Jamie Chiasson Mutter and husband, Brett Mutter; 
and great-grandchildren, Adrienne, Jacob, and Andrew Currie, Paul, Rebecca, 
William, Elizabeth, and Catherine Toups, and Luke Mutter. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Camile J. Chaisson and Inez Martinez; 
first wife, Marie Hoffman Chiasson; daughter, Eugenie Marie Chiasson; brother, 
Neddie Chiasson; and sister, Daisy Chiasson Ledet. 

Col. Chaisson was a graduate of L.T. High School and Louisiana State 
University, where he earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree. He is a 
former schoolteacher and principal of 31 years in Lafourche and St. Charles 
Parishes. 

Col. Chaisson had dedicated 31 years of military service to active duty and to 
the Louisiana State National Guard. 
In addition to many service schools, he was a graduate of the C and G's College 
at Ft. Leavenworth and the U.S. Army War College. He served in Korea from 1952 
to 1953, where he earned the Combat Infantry Badge, Presidential Unit Citation, 
United Nations Ribbon, Korean Service Ribbon, Occupation of Japan Ribbon, and 
Army Commendation Ribbon, in addition to several Louisiana State Service 
Medals. Col. Chaisson had 29 years of active service with Kiwanis Club of Third 
District serving as various officers of that organization. 
He was also a member of the Teachers' Retirement System, Louisiana State 
Employee Retirement System, Society of the Third Infantry Division, and the 
Seventh Infantry Regent Association. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kiwanis Club Ð Third 
District of New Orleans, or to any charity. 

Thibodaux Funeral Home in Thibodaux is in charge of arrangements.
