Edward John Plaisance, 86, a native of Gheens and resident of Franklinton, died 
at 4:38 a.m. Sunday, June 29, 2014. 

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Thursday at St. Hilary of 
Poitiers Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. 
Thursday at the church, 

with burial in Restlawn Park Cemetery in Avondale. 

He is survived by his daughter, Donna Menard; grandsons, Dwayne Menard and 
wife, Kristy Theriot, Scotty Menard and wife, Carolyn, and Corey Menard and 
wife, Rachael; four great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; 
brothers, Edison and Lester Plaisance; and sisters, Gladys Bourg and Mildred 
Thibodaux. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Plaisance; parents, Pierre 
Plaisance and Melodis Plaisance; granddaughter, Cindy Lynn Menard; brothers, 
Chester, Norris, and Ernest Plaisance; and sister, Rennit Plaisance. 

Samart Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements.
