Catherine Verdin Vene, 53, a native of Grand Caillou and resident of Houma, 
died Saturday, June 28, 2014. 

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until funeral time Thursday at Coteau 
Baptist Church in Houma. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the 
church. 

She is survived by her son, Joey David Vene and wife, Paula; sister, Eul Marie 
Gilmer and husband, Michael, and Edna Tassin and husband, Kenneth; brothers, 
Joseph "Papus" Smith, Anthony "Country" Verdin and wife, Pam, John Ernest 
Verdin and wife, Donnia, Calvin "Meme" Verdin, Richard Verdin, and Elton "Taun" 
Verdin and wife, Nina; and grandchildren, Jordyn David Martin, Madelyn Marie 
Martin, and Hannah Renee Chaisson. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Anthony "Goin" Verdin; mother, 
Eula Mae Verret Verdin; brother, Irvin Verdin; grandparents, Edmond Jack Verret 
and Edna V. Verret; grandparents, Albert Verdin Sr. and Alice Verdin; niece, 
Crystal Smith; nephew, Lucus Verdin; and sisters-in-law, Enette B. Smith and 
Mollie V. Verdin. 

The family would like to thank Haydel Hospice for their kind and gentle care. 

Samart Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements.
