Wayne Maurice Jones, 51, a native of Lafourche Parish and resident of Raceland, 
died at 4:50 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014. 

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at Morning Star 
Baptist Church in Raceland. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at 
the church, 

with burial in Morning Star Baptist Church cemetery in Raceland. 

He is survived by his son, Chance T. Shelby; mother Sheary Hawkins Smith; 
brothers, Lionel (Clorissa) Epps, Felton (Daisy) Gray, Quincy Lee Gray, Johnell 
Lawson, and Ezekial (Deondra) Davis; sisters, Lois (John Sr.) Holiday, Shawn 
(Stafford) Jeffrey, Emelda Gray, Lou Ida Gray, Annette Gray, Demetrica Gray, 
Willie Mae Bergeron, Jackie (Ulysses) Raymond, Debra (William Jr.) Wheaton and 
Christie Davis; and five grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Ezekial Gray; stepfather, Herman Smith; 
brothers, Leroy and Alvin Gray; sister, Aletha Gray Monroe; maternal 
grandparents, Isaac Sr. and Georgiana Jones Epps and Charles Hawkins Sr.; 
maternal great-grandparents, Sam and Mary Wilson Jones, and Samuel Sr. and 
Rebecca Duncan Hawkins; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gray. 

Jones Funeral Home in Houma in charge of arrangements.
