Shirley Mae Bennett, a native of Washington and resident of Houma, was born 
Feb. 27, 1945 and died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014. 

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at Mechanicville 
Emmanuel Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the 
church, 

with burial in Mechanicville Emmanuel Baptist Church cemetery. 

She is survived by her husband, Warrence Bennett Sr.; sons, John Kenneth Wayne 
Harrison and Warrence Bennett Jr., of Houma; daughters, Bridgette Maria 
Harrison, Kimberly Marquetta Harrison and Charity Shirlene Bennett (Errol) 
Jones, of Houma; brothers, Herbert (Barbara) Andrus, of Ft. Worth, Texas, and 
Ervin Lee (Verice) Andrus, of Opelousas; sisters, Mary Davis, of Houston, 
Texas, Helen R. Carter, of Baton Rouge, and HenriBelle Caldwell, of New 
Orleans; 34 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Willie Mae Andrus; 
brother, Nelson Andrus; and sisters, Cinderella Johnson, Clara Mae Jackson and 
Anna Rose.
