Laverne "Granny" Murphy, 81, a native of Jonesboro and resident of Houma, died 
at 12:27 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Falgout Funeral Home in Houma. A prayer 
service will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral Home. 

A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Springhill Cemetery in 
Jonesboro.

She is survived by her sons, Randy and wife, Tina, Ricky and wife, Jeffie, and 
Roger Murphy; daughters, Loretta and husband, Bruce Shafter, and Laritta and 
husband, Steve Fry; sister, Dorothy Masters; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-
grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wayne Murphy; parents, James 
Rural Sr. and Virgie Davis Boddie; brother, James Rural Boddie Jr.; an infant 
sister; and two grandsons, Rocky Tre and Carrol Wayne Murphy.

Falgout Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements
