Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2014/f1408.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Funeral services will be held for Maxine Witt, 91, who died on Aug. 26 at Heritage Manor of Houma. Visitation will be Thursday night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday morning from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home with service to follow at 11 a.m. Graveside services to follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery. Maxine had a passion and talent for making beautiful artwork. She was the illustrator of ÒLast IslandÓ and several other books. She was also a member of the Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild. Maxine was retired from Terrebonne Council on Aging, where she served as the organizationÕs Art Instructor. She painted the artwork for the councilÕs Krewe of Mardi Gras float for many years, and in 1984, she was selected to serve as the KreweÕs Queen. She was also a frequent participant in the CouncilÕs Annual Senior Olympics event. Maxine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a kind, happy and energetic person who will be missed deeply by all who love her. She is survived by her children: Gary Witt and wife Glynna, Mickey Witt and wife Paula, Valerie Dupre and husband Harry, and Kris Witt and wife Phyllis. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Wendy Martin, Kelly Price, Matt Witt, Sherry Morton, Stephen Witt, Brian Witt, Josh Witt, Rhiannon Foret, Tyler Witt, Kaylen Witt and Alex Witt. Survivors also include 10 great grandchildren: Jesalyn Martin, Kelsey Brossette, Cody Smith, Cameron Smith, Griffin Cockerham, Hannah Lovell, Miles Morton, Ray Price, Taylor Price, Bailey Price, and Adalynn Foret. In addition, she is survived by three great-great grandchildren: Brennan Lacoste, Colin Price and Rhylee Triche. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Eva Faye Jackson and Vern L. Jackson; her husband, H. Dale Witt; and a grandchild, Lorrie Michelle Witt. ======================
