Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2014/f1409.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Willa Mae Cheavious Dickerson, 89, was born on May 6, 1925 and returned to her heavenly home on September 2, 2014 at 11:50 PM. She was a resident of Labadieville for the majority of her life. A visitation will be held on Monday, September 8, 2014 from Noon until service time at St. Mark Baptist Church in Labadieville. Religious services will take place at 1:00 PM by Reverend Lionell Green. Burial will take place after services in St. Mark Baptist Church cemetery in Labadieville. She is survived her eight daughters, Carrie Simien resident of Beaumont, Texas, Julia Dickerson and Maxine Dickerson both residents of Houma, Essie Robinson (Urgin) and Paulette Dickerson both residents of San Jose, California, Genevia Hawkins and Suzanne Dickerson both residents of Thibodaux, and Brenda Dickerson resident of New Orleans. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, as well as one nephew, Calvin Jones from New Orleans, one niece, Delilah Davis from Chicago, Illinois, and her in home caregiver, DeNatha Green. She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years Edward Dickerson; infant children, Norman, Regina, and Sharon Dickerson; parents, Ruffin Cheavious and Iola Williams Chevious Ford; siblings, Waddis Cheavious, Ethel Blackburn, Ruby Jones, and Ruth Cheavious. She was loved by many, a hard worker, a devoted Christian and church member. She was also a proud and independent woman who loved her family. She was well respected in the community and well-liked by all she knew. She was willing to help everyone and put others first and will be greatly missed by all.
