Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2014/f1409.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Bernice Marie Peltier Harang, 90, loving mother, wife, and grandmother, went to be with God on September 24, 2014. Bernice was a native and lifelong resident of Thibodaux. She was born on March 18, 1924, the second child and only daughter of Harvey Andrew and Mary Ayo Peltier. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, former Thibodaux Mayor Warren J. Harang, Jr., and is survived by nine children: Mary Margaret ÒMargÓ H. Dufrene, Warren J. Harang, III (Becky), Bernice ÒBeeÓ H. Talbot, Sarah ÒSallyÓ H. Naquin (James), Jane H. Bicknell (Ryan), Bryan H. Harang (Deanna), Thomas Benton ÒBenÓ Harang (Melanie), Susan H. Savoie, and Carolyn H. Winder (Carey). ÒMimiÓ is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren: Brandt Dufrene, Jr., Br. Stephen Marie Dufrene, CFR, Jeanne H. Boughton, Warren (Jay) Harang, IV, Amy Harang, Lee Harang, Byron (Ron) Talbot, Jr., Ellen T. McMillen, Elizabeth T. Gros, Alida N. Colomb, James (Jimmy) Naquin, Jr., Harold Bicknell III, Mary Katherine Bicknell, Scott Harang, Sara H. Brown, Jason Harang, Michael Harang, Thomas (Tom) Harang, Jr., Paul Harang, Katherine H. Bourgeois, Rebecca Savoie, Emilie Winder and Parkes Winder. Seventeen great-grandchildren, one step great grandchild and one great, great grandchild also survive her. Bernice is also survived by one brother, Dr. James R. Peltier (Ann), sister-in- law, Grace Peltier, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bernice was preceded in death by her brothers, Harvey A. Peltier, Jr. (Mickey), Donald L. Peltier, and Richard B. Peltier. Also preceding her in death were her mother- and father-in-law, Winifred Foret Harang and Warren J. Harang, Sr. as well as her sisters- and brothers-in-law: Winifred H. and Louis Kozelsky, Mary Catherine H. and Eugene Gouaux, Marie Louise G. and Donald F. Harang, Sr. and Mary Lee H. and Dr. Wally Picou. Bernice graduated from Ursuline High School in New Orleans in 1940 and Ursuline College in New Orleans in 1944 and maintained lifelong friendships with her classmates. After Warren returned from his service overseas in World War II, during an eight-day furlough from his duties as a soldier, Bernice married him on May 24, 1945. They made their home, raised their large family, and served their community in Thibodaux together for the next sixty years. BerniceÕs children would like to express their profound gratitude to their motherÕs devoted, loving caregivers, whose gift of a peaceful, comfortable and dignified twilight of their motherÕs life means everything to them. Bernice lives on in the faces and hearts of her many descendants, who will always remember her unconditional love, her strength in stormy times, her joy in happy times, her humor, her elegance, and her kind, beautiful soul. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, 2635 State St., New Orleans, LA 70118, St. Anthony Catholic Church (Gheens, LA), c/o St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church, 333 Twin Oaks Dr., Raceland, LA 70394, Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, St. Leopold Friary, 259 Nepperhan Ave., Yonkers, NY 10701 or to the Louisiana Pediatric Cardiology Foundation, 2137-A Quail Run Dr., Ste. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at LandryÕs Funeral Home in Thibodaux, LA and on Friday, September 26 from 8:00am- 11:00am at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am, and Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux, LA.
