Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2014/f1409.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Passed away peacefully at home and joined his Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 12, 2014 at 4:00 a.m. at the age of 94. He was a life-long resident of Raceland, LA and was born on November 11, 1919 to the late August and Clothilde Dupuy Ledet. Wake services will be held at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland, LA on Tuesday, September 16 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Wednesday, September 17 at St. Mary's Nativity Catholic Church in Raceland, LA from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the funeral mass commencing at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Holy Savior Cemetery in Lockport, LA. He is survived by his children, Patricia Ledet Pitre (daughter) and husband Errol, Jimmy Ledet (son), and Tisa Ledet Hill (daughter) and husband Myron; Grandchildren: Lonnie Pitre (wife Becky), Christopher Pitre, Erica Hill (fiancŽ Marty St. Romain), Zack Hill (wife Felicia), and Brodi Hill; and Great- grandchildren: Sammie Pitre and Aubree Pitre and soon to be born baby Helena Hill. He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Helen Cheramie Ledet; his parents, August and Clothilde Dupuy Ledet and siblings Loretta Ledet Mallon and baby Theresa Ledet (sisters) and Joseph Ledet and Wilbert Ledet (brothers). Gilbert made his living alongside his father as a barber as the owner and operator of Ledet's Barbershop in Raceland for over 60 years. He also was a service attendance at Raceland ExonService Center. Gilbert enjoyed life and was not afraid of workingÉhe kept a garden raised chickens and kept up his yard. He also helped his late wife, Helen, with the household chores on a daily basis. He was also a member of the VFW Post 3665 of Raceland having served in World War II on the Navy Destroyer USS Cotten in the Pacific Theatre. The family would like to thank the Spiritual Community of the Central Lafourche area for the prayers and thoughts over the last few years with special thanks to Fr. Mike Tran, Fr. Charles Perkins, Fr. John Arogysami, Fr. Sabino (Bennie) Rebosura II, Fr. Robert Rogers, Msgr. Donald Ledet, Carol Falgoust and Betty Foret. They were a source of spiritual support in our time of need. The family would also like to thank beyond all measure the two wonderful caregivers, Mary Evans and Ethel Lirette. They provided the utmost care for our father and always went beyond the call of duty to make our father most comfortable. They cared for our father as if he was their own father. Also, special thanks is given to Thibodaux Home Health for the excellent care given especially his nurse, Ms. Johnna Le who provided the most excellent care to our father. We would also like the express our thanks to the staff of Ochsner St. Anne Hospital for the excellent care provided to Gilbert during his various hospital stays especially the 3rd floor nursing care staff. Special thanks for the nursing care provided by Lori Battaglia, Myra Cheramie, Alison Hebert, Marcie, Faye and Rose. Lastly, the family would like to thank the medical and office staff of Ochsner St. Anne Hospital and Family Doctor clinic. Special thanks to Drs. Michael Marcello, Andre Duplantis, Mohammed Nawaz, James Schwietzer and Kenneth Wong for the excellent care provided to our father. Our dad will be sadly missed, but the values and wisdom we gained through his lifetime will live on through his children, Patricia, Jimmy and Tisa.
