Major George W. Mims Jr., 76, a native of New Orleans and resident of Raceland, 
died at 7:04 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014. 

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Thursday at St. Mary's 
Nativity Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. 
Thursday at the church, 

with burial in the church cemetery. 

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Mims; stepdaughters, Amy Matherne and 
husband, Derace Matherne, Kay Benoit and Amber Benoit; daughter, Mary Joffre; 
and grandchildren, Alison Matherne, Ariel Matherne, Hunter Joffre, Kaylob 
Benoit, Gabrielle Benoit, Abby Benoit, Landon Benoit, and Kaylee Benoit. 

He was preceded in death by his father, George W. Mims Sr.; mother, Mildred 
Mims; son, Mike Mims; and grandson, Michael John Minatra. The family would like 
to thank everyone for their continuous prayers. 

Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
