Rita Leonard Peltier, 81, a resident of Schriever, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 
2014. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral 
in Thibodaux, 

with burial in St. Joseph cemetery at a later date. 

She is survived by her sons, Allen J. and Burce J. Peltier; siblings, Virgie 
Blanchard and husband, Gerald, Jackie Leonard and wife, Brenda, and David 
Leonard; sisters-in-law, Eula Mae, Betty, and Mary Leonard; aunts, Marie Adams 
and Marie Leonard; very close friend, Miriam Gros Esteve; grandchildren, 
Crystal Kinsey, Sarah Peltier, Samantha Peltier, Joseph Peltier, and Thomas 
Peltier; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Caroline, Kiersten, Nathan, Zym, and 
Logan; numerous nieces and nephews; and many Peltier family members. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Peltier; parents, Walter 
and Zoe Lasseigne Leonard; and siblings, Noel, Harold, Andrew and Shirley 
Leonard. 

Rita moved from Thibodaux to Schenectady, New York, in 1955 where she and James 
raised Allen and Bruce. Then 30 years later she moved back to Schriever and 
resided there until her death. 

Landry's Funeral Home in Thibodaux is in charge of arrangements.
