"Mr. C, Okra Man" Callais, Sr., 85, a native and resident of Cut Off passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2014. Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time, A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with a private burial at a later date. He is survived by his son, Edwin T. "Ed" Callais, Jr.; daughter, Theresa C. Laussade and husband Alton "Chip"; sister, Gloria Curole; step son, Gerald Dantin; step daughter, Carol Dantin; grandchildren, Rachel Bennet and husband Drew, Alton Laussade, Eric Laussade, Eva Callais; 4 step grandchildren, ; great grandchild, David Bennet; 5 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Callais; companion, Priscilla Leonard; parents, Eva and Forest Callais, Sr.; brothers, Whitney Callais, Guy Callais, Charleston Callais, Alcide Callais, Forest Callais, Jr., Harold Callais, Earl Callais; sisters, Lucille Cheramie, Lillian Curole, Hilda Callais, Elsie Terrebonne. He served 9 years in the Army and in the Korean Confict, worked for Halliburton and the Lafourche Parish Sheriff Office. He loved his garden, loved to sing and most of all, he loved people.
