Mildred "Poonie" McGuire Jenkins, 73, a native of Morgan City and resident of 
Houma, died at 3:27 P.M. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014. 

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until funeral time Friday at First Corinthian 
Baptist Church in Houma. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the 
church, 

with burial in Southdown Cemetery. 

She is survived by her sons, Roger and Terry Short, of Houma; daughters, Lorie 
Lee Short, of Kenner, and Yolanda (Quinton) Coleman; sisters, Bernita McGuire, 
of Gibson, Patricia (Alvin) Jones, of Morgan City, Rose (Robert) Singleton, of 
Patterson, Paulette Randall, of Napoleonville, Rosetta Watson, Brenda Bonnet 
and Sylvia McGuire, of Houma; brother, Paul McGuire; nine grandchildren; and 
six great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Solomon Jenkins; daughter, Gwendolyn 
Short; parents, Clarence and Mary Mitchell McGuire; sister, Magdaline Campbell; 
and brothers, James, Horace, Claude (Betty), and Clarence McGuire Jr. and 
Herbert Thomas. 

Jones Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements.
