Joan "Susie" Hamilton Bergeron, 73, a native of Houma, died Tuesday, November 
4, 2014, at her home in Suwanee, Georgia. 

She is survived by her husband, Peter; daughter, Kayla Bergeron, of West Palm 
Beach, Florida; son, Hal, of Stewartsville, New Jersey; daughter, Liesl 
O'Connell, of Newburyport, Massachusetts, granddaughters, Jacqueline and Renee 
Bergeron, and Chloe O'Connell; brother, Harvie Hamilton Jr. and wife, Susan, of 
Houma; brother, Gordon and wife, Sheryl Hamilton, of Princeton, Texas; and 
brother, Randy Hamilton and life partner, Ronald Stewart, of Suwanee, Georgia. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvie Sr. and Marie Foolkes 
Hamilton; and oldest son, Peter Jr. 

Joan was a 1959 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School and attended LSU 
and Nicholls State University. For many years, she was active in Republican 
Party politics in Morris County, New Jersey. She also owned her own business, 
Bergeron Advertising Specialties Inc. and served on the Morris County Mental 
Health Board. 

Crowell Brothers Funeral Home in Peachtree Corners, Georgia, is in charge of 
arrangements.
