He lived life fully on his own terms with a focused clarity and a wide open heart. He was a student of life. He had a curiosity and thirst for understanding and his brilliant mind was a sponge, soaking up a wide variety of knowledge. He was a consummate historian. He had the gift for storytelling, was an avid gardener and a skilled outdoorsman. He enjoyed nothing more than a quiet morning fishing or paddling his canoe on the bayou. He traveled the world; hiking, climbing, diving, paddling and exploring. His photography is a vast pictorial journal of his enjoyment of, connection to, and deep appreciation of nature. He’d be the first to say that he felt privileged to see many of the world’s most famous sights, but none were more fulfilling to him than his own garden in his own backyard. Joel left his indelible and unique footprint on the earth. He will be missed ======================
