Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2014/f1411.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Alley "Pops" Joseph Nelton, 82, a native and resident of Montegut, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014, of Pulmonary Fibrosis. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Friday at Samart Funeral Home in Houma. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with burial in Rogers Cemetery in Houma. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Beulah Josephine Rodrigue Nelton; sons, Richard Joseph Nelton, of Houma, Russell Joseph Nelton and wife, Amy, of Montegut, Ricky Joseph Nelton and wife, Peggy, David Joseph Nelton and wife, Jackie, of Montegut, Jesse Joseph Nelton and wife, Monica, of Montegut; Alley Joseph "Alley Boy" Nelton Jr. and wife, Leona, and Alvin Joseph Nelton, of Montegut; daughters, Eloise "Teaty" Dupre and husband, Steve, of Chauvin, Rochelle Welch, of Lafayette, Shelly Nelton de la Vega and husband, Rick, of Georgetown, Texas, Lou Ann Price and husband, Jeffery, of Dulac, Tina Marie Verrett and husband, Nollie, of Montegut, Amy Lynn Rodrigue and husband, Tommy Jr., of Houma, and Katie Marie Naquin and husband, Dustin, of Montegut; sister, Lena Thibodaux and husband, Conrad, of Chauvin, brothers, Elmore Joseph Nelton and wife, Theresa, and Robert Joseph Nelton and wife, Mary, of Chauvin; 44 grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 20 step- great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Joseph Nelton and Uzelia Marie Leboeuf Nelton; paternal grandparents, Wallace Joseph Nettleton and Adelaide LeBoeuf; maternal grandparents, Etienne LeBoeuf and Hilda Bourg; sisters, Irene Marie Nelton and Edna Marie Nelton Lisotta; brothers, Melton Joseph Nelton and Abbey Joseph "T-Bay" Nelton; daughter, Betty Jean Nelton; son, James Joseph Nelton Sr.; grandchild, Angela Star Authement; and great-grandchild, Kaleb Nelton. At the time of his death, Alley was employed as a roustabout for Crescent Coating Services in their Gibson yard. He was also previously employed by the former Tesco, Inc. He was a commercial fisherman for most of his life and captain of the shrimping vessel the "Drinu". He managed the former barroom "The Morocco" for about three years and was a supply boat captain of the old "Miss Marggie" owned by Wilson and Henry LeBlanc. He was also a cancer survivor of 32 years. The family would like to express special thanks to his family and friends for all of their support, Randy LeBoeuf of Marlin Services, Bayou Home Care, Pulmonary Home Care, Hospice of South Louisiana, Dr. Bruce and Andre Guidry, Dr. Ralph Bourgeois, Dr. Peter Fail at CIS, and the numerous of nurses and staff at TGMC.
