Jack was born a twin Feb. 12, 1929, in Leesvile in Vernon Parish and spent his boyhood days on a farm on Cane River near Boyce. His father and mother were both educators and of pioneer stock who instilled a strong work ethic and Christian values into their three sons, which was evident to all who knew Jack. He received a degree in sociology from Northwestern State University, and a law degree from Louisiana State University in 1952. He came to Thibodaux and practiced law for almost 60 years, first in partnership with the late Clyde Caillouet, then at his office on West 7th St., with the help of his secretary and friend of 40 years, Elizabeth "Liz" Thibodeaux. He was always fond of and grateful to Mrs. Serena "Weenie" Borne of the Lafourche National Bank, whose confidence enabled him to launch his business and professional career. His son, Andrew, joined him in the practice of law in 1994, which was a source of pleasure and pride to him. Jack met and married Lorraine Hebert in 1962 and was father to three children. He was a founding member of University Baptist Church and served as legal adviser at one time. Always active in civic affairs, he was a member of the Lafourche Parish Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association, the Rotary Club, Lions Club, served a year as president of the Thibodaux Jaycees, served a year as president of Tri Parish Apartment Association, served on the board of the Lafourche Parish library, and on the board of the Federal Land Bank. He belonged to many other organizations, including the Thibodaux Friends of the Library and Thibodaux Playhouse, to list a few. A nature lover, he enjoyed, canoeing, camping, swimming, and bike riding. His love of music ranged from classical and opera to folk spirituals, but his main passion was for the written word. He was seldom without a book or newspaper in hand. He loved poetry and history, especially Louisiana history and was a founding member of the Lafourche Heritage Society, and a member of the Louisiana Historical Association. He was an active member of the Republican Party and practiced its conservative views in both his political and private dealings. Jack was a gentle man and loving husband and father who will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to everyone at Journey Hospice, and to all those who lovingly cared for him in our home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Parkinson's Disease Association or any charity. Thibodaux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. ======================
