Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2015/f1501.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Gabrielle Bethancourt, 95, a native of Jersey City, New Jersey and resident of Houma, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday, Jan. 28, at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in Magnolia Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Bethancourt Kyle and husband, Bill, of Houma; brother, Norris "Jim" James Bethancourt and wife, Peggy; sister, Jocelyn Cooper Wallace; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and daughter-in- law, Annie Bethancourt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Joseph Bethancourt Sr.; son, Richard Bethancourt Jr.; grandchild, Terry Bethancourt; father, Charles Kitchell Cooper; mother, Elizabeth Anne Hannish; and sister, Betty Cooper. Gabrielle was a parishioner of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. She attended several schools and colleges studying art. She traveled around the world always continuing her education in art. Gabrielle was also one of the founders of the Terrebonne Parish Fine Arts Guild and the Barr-Berry Garden Club. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II and a retired employee of the Social Security Administration. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to the St. Matthew's building fund. Samart Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements. U.S. Navy ======================
