C.J. Cortez, 77, passed away January 20, 2015, resident of Choctaw. Visitation 
will be Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 9AM until funeral time at Thibodaux 
Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be at 11AM at the funeral home, 

with burial to follow at St. James Cemetery in Choctaw.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Angela Tabor Cortez; children, Ronald 
Cortez and wife Phyllis & Janel Griffin and husband Greg; siblings, Clarabelle 
Lagrange, Theresa Oncale, Irene Cortez and Julius Cortez; grandchildren, Kysha 
Shinall and husband Nick & Hayley Ordoyne and husband Jacob; great-
grandchildren, Promise, Emah and Avah Shinall.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Maggie Cortez; sister, Gloria 
Cortez; daughter, Deborah Benoit and her husband Gary.

He enjoyed yard work, spending time with his family, and telling stories. He 
loved cracking jokes just to see people smile. 

He will be greatly missed by family, friends and anyone who knew him.
