Tobe Fondren, 85, a native of New York and resident of Houma, died in her home 
surrounded by her loving family and friends, Monday, Jan. 19, 2015. 
She passed away three weeks after being diagnosed with uterine cancer. 

She was the loving wife of 66 years of James Fondren; beloved and devoted 
mother of James Jr., Cindy, Sharon and Carol; mother-in-law to Billy; proud 
grandmother of eight grandchildren; and great-grandmother of one great-
grandchild. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Fondren; parents, Samuel and 
Sylvia Zigman; and sister, Connie. 

Tobe was an accomplished musician who played with the New York Mandolin 
Symphony Orchestra. Before her marriage she often performed in Carnegie Hall. 
She was a member of various organizations including the National Society of 
Independent Accountants and the Business and Professional Woman's Club. She was 
an accountant and owned and operated her own tax and accounting office. 

She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. 

Samart Funeral Home is in charge of private arrangements.
