Michael Gilmer, 59, a native of Brownsville, Texas, and resident of Houma, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015. 

A memorial visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Saturday, Jan. 10, at Coteau Baptist Church. 

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, 

with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery in Bossier City. 

He is survived by his wife, Eula Gilmer; son, Michael Dean Gilmer II and wife, Brooke; brothers, Tim Gilmer and wife, Sandy, Kendall Gilmer and wife, Cindy, and David Gilmer and wife, Cathy; sisters, Dolores Gilmer and April Wickline and husband, Robert; sister-in-law, Kimbelynn Gilmer; and aunt, Norma Jean Buquet. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilmer Gilmer; mother, Muriel Greenlaw Gilmer; brother, Leslie Gilmer; grandparents, George and Tometta Gilmer, and Alonzo and Roxanne Gilmer; brother-in-law, Larry Murry; uncle, Raymond Buquet; sister-in-law, Catherine Vene; mother-in-law, Eula May Verrett Verdin; and father-in-law, Anthony Robert Verdin. Samart Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements.
