Thelma Riche Irwin, 86, a native of New Orleans and resident of Houma, died 
Monday, Jan. 26, 2015. 

A private graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans 
at a later date. 

She is survived by her daughter, Jan Irwin Collins and husband, George; 
grandson, Brandon C. Gamble and wife, Ashley; step-grandson, Dr. Geoffrey 
Collins and partner, Carrie; step-granddaughter, Holly Casanova and husband, 
Danny; great-grandsons, Kevin G. Collins and Patrick A. Collins; great-
granddaughter, Olivia Grace Gamble; and a long-time friend who shall remain 
unnamed. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mildred Miller Riche; 
sisters, Rita Kahoe, Hazel Deutschman and Helen Boudreaux; and husband, Thomas 
Conway Irwin. 

Thelma was born, raised, lived and worked in New Orleans for most of her life. 
She moved to Houma to be near her only child. She loved flower gardening and 
shopping. But most of all, she loved Jan and all of her family. 
She will be sorely missed but never forgotten. 

Samart Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements.
