Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2015/f1501.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Melvin Alphonse Mire, 81, a native of Rayne, Louisiana and resident of Thibodaux, Louisiana died at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 25th, 2015. Visitation was on Monday, January 26, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the House of Prayer in Thibodaux, La. The visitation will resume Tuesday January 27,2015 at House of Prayer from 8am until Funeral services at 10:00 a.m. with a burial at St. Joseph Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 62 ½ years, Beverly Arceneaux Mire, and his three children - Myron P. Mire and wife Sherry, Judy M. Ordoyne and husband Jimmy, and Rhonda M. Melancon and husband Ronnie. He is also survived by his six grandchildren – Stacey Gaubert, Melissa Stein and husband, Troy, Jamie Ordoyne and wife, Jessica, Joshua Melancon and wife, Keesha, Sarah Folse and husband, Terrell, David Melancon and wife, Rachel, and his 12 great-grandchildren – Jessica Ordoyne, Katie Gaubert, Russell "Rocky" Gaubert, Gracie Ordoyne, Paige Stein, Ellie "Ally-Oop" Stein, Jensen Melancon, Miley Melancon, Victoria "Tori" Folse, Anderson Folse, Sullivan "Coopa" Folse, "Baby Girl" Melancon (to be born in March). He is preceded in death by his parents Cleveland A. Mire and Anna-Mae Prejean Mire, and his two sisters – Nellie Jane Mire Holloway and Deloria Marie Mire Melvin Alphonse Mire was born in Rayne, LA on June 30th, 1933. He moved his wife and two children to Thibodaux, LA in 1955 from Bosco, LA to sell insurance where shortly after his third child was born. After many years of selling insurance, he began working for the Lafourche Parish Sherriff's Office until his retirement. An avid outdoorsman and cajun musician, he only had one greater passion – his love for and devotion to his family. Although he is gone in body, he will forever live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched; those who knew him simply as "Popsie". ======================
