Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2015/f1501.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Gerard John Rodrigue, 83, a native of Chackbay and resident of Thibodaux, peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Thibodaux, Louisiana, and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Thursday, Jan. 22. A mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. at the church, with interment in the St. Joseph Cemetery. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Anna Louise Battaglia Rodrigue; and his sons Gerard Jr. and his wife, Madelyn; Christopher and his wife, Barbara; Gregory; and Justin and his wife, Melisa. He is survived by his 13 grandchildren: Alaina Rodrigue Daigle and her husband, Philip; Alicia Rodrigue Authement and her husband, Jason; Mason, Marcus, Blake, Cullen, Meghan, Dana, Leah, Macki, Marlo, Joshua and Gracie. He is also survived by his five great-grandchildren; Thomas, Abigail and Amelia Daigle, and Everett and Anne Marie Authement. He is survived by his brother, Roy Rodrigue, and half-brother, Edward Legendre. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Rosine Rodrigue; half- sisters Agnes Boudreaux, Ethelyn Trosclair, Mildred Legendre and Carrie Volpi; and half-brother Stuard Rodrigue. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He loved people and enjoyed socializing, traveling, photography, dancing and spending time with his family. Gerard was a devout Catholic and a founding parishioner of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister. He was a long-time Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1114. He is a retired educator of Lafourche Parish School Board, serving as principal of Chackbay Elementary School for 22 years, of W.S. Lafargue for six years, and as Supervisor of Child Welfare and Attendance for seven years. Gerard was a lifetime member of the Louisiana Retired Teachers Association and an active member of the Lafourche Parish Retired Teachers Association.
