James "PoBoy" Smith, a native of Lafourche Parish and resident of Thibodaux, 
died at 10:56 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015. 

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at Jones Funeral Home 
in Houma. 

He is survived by his wife, Bernadine Henderson Smith: daughters, Noella W. 
Montgomery and Roslyn Watkins; stepsons, Trevor and Tyrone Henderson, and 
Christopher Watkins; stepdaughter, Cassandra Jackson; sisters, Lille (Freddie) 
Butler, Evola (Alex Jr.) Woods, Jeanette (Sylvester) Handy, Betty (Josh Jr.) 
Sterling, Carol (the Rev. Johnnie) Clark, Norma Lewis, Rose M. Lewis, Dorothy 
(Richard) Ingram and Olivia Preston; and 11 grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Smith Sr. and Jeanette Brignac 
Lewis; brother, Joseph Smith Jr.; and foster mother, Alma LaGarde. 

Jones Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements.
