Bergeron Jr., 93, a life-long resident of Houma, passed away peacefully in the afternoon Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until funeral time Friday, Feb. 27, at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery I. He is survived by his daughter, Carol and husband, Richard Eagle, of Houma; sons, Kenneth and wife, Ruth Bergeron, Dale Bergeron and David Bergeron, of Houma; grandchildren, Tanya Bergeron, Crystal Melancon, Amber Eagle Trahan, Alyssa Eagle and Kayle Storm Adams; numerous great-grandchildren; and sister, Shirley Bergeron Barbieri, of Clarksdale, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle "Sis" Pellegrin Bergeron; parents, Stanley Edward Sr. and Josephine Trahan Bergeron; sister, Betty Bergeron; of Houston, Texas; and granddaughter, Starla Bergeron Dupre, of Houma. S.E. was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. He was a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service. He was a graduate of Terrebonne High School. He also served as a sergeant in the U.S.M.C.from 1940 to 1945 during World War II. During this time he was a member of the Famous 180 Mile Hike. After discharge from the service in 1945, he returned to his roots in Houma and after a few years became an employee with the U.S. Postal Service. He remained there until his retirement in 1985. S.E. was most proud of his family and of his 31 years of dedicated service to the U.S. government with the U.S.M.C. and the U.S. Postal Service. He will be remembered for his perseverance, courage and strength, especially in his final days. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Journey Hospice for their nurturing care.
