Melba Babin, 84, a native and resident of Houma, died Sunday, March 8, 2015. 

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Samart Funeral Home in Houma. Visitation 
will resume, from 9 a.m. Wednesday until a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. 
at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Chauvin, 

with burial in St. Elie Cemetery in Chauvin. 

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Dupre and husband, Alvin; sons, Bobby 
Babin and wife, Dee, Lee Babin and wife, Deborah, and Don Babin; 16 
grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Essey Babin; father, Lee Duplantis; 
mother, Lena Duplantis; and daughters-in-law, Claudette and Janice Babin. 

She was a nurse at Houma Medical Clinic under Dr. Saul Landry. 

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Journey Hospice for 
there compassion and kindness. 

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to St. Jude's 
Hospital in Melba's name. 

Samart Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements.
