Richard John Elfert, 73, a native and resident of Houma, died Thursday, March 
5, 2015. 

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral time at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. 
Francis de Sales Cathedral in Houma. 

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Tina Lirette Elfert, son Dennis John 
Elfert and wife, Kim, daughter Michelle McCain and husband, John, and five 
grandchildren that were the 'apple of his eye,' Richard Elfert, Maria, 
Christina, John and Josh McCain; mother, Alizina Elfert; brother, Michael 
Elfert and wife, Jamie; nephews and nieces, Scott Elfert, Keith Lirette, Mollie 
Borne, Pamela Gyan and Lyndel Dryden, and many great nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Sidney Elfert and an infant sister, 
Julianne. 

Richard was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and he will 
be missed by all of us. 
His favorite times were those spent with his children and grandchildren. 

Samart Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements.
