Roten, 74, a native of Virginia and resident of Schriever, was born on September 29, 1940 and passed away on March 26, 2015 at his home after a battle with cancer. Visitation will be Friday, March 27, 2015 at Thibodaux Funeral Home (104 St. Patrick Hwy., Thibodaux) from 5:30 PM – 9:00 PM and on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Christian Assembly (1971 West Park Avenue, Schriever) from 9:30 AM till funeral time. A religious service will take place at 11:00 AM at the church. He is survived by his wife Norma Melancon Roten; children, Bambi "Lynn" Rayburn and husband Robert, Kelly Olivier and husband Todd, David "Scott" Roten and wife Bonnie, and Richard "Chris" Roten; siblings, Helen Nitroy, Belle Greer and husband James, Melba Hartsoe, Ann Kilgore and husband Pete, and James "Jimmy" Roten and wife Alice ; grandchildren, Sara Rayburn and husband Jack McCaffrey, Kayti Rayburn, Michael Olivier and wife Jamie, Amanda Rogers and husband Clint, Ryan Roten and wife Brittany, Stephen Roten, Kristen Roten, Megan Roten, Nicole Roten, and Jessica Denton; great- grandchildren, Ender Ryan and Isla Lindscombe. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lillard Roten and Lucy Johnson Roten; siblings, Charles, Rob, Ray, and Joe Roten. The family would like to thank Patti, Nathaniel and the entire staff at Haydel Memorial Hospice for their care and compassion. He was a veteran of the US Army. He worked construction with LeBlanc Brothers, Trac-work, and finished his career owning his own business. He enjoyed wood working and was very active in his church and the Schriever Senior Center.
