Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2015/f1504.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Clifton "Cliff" Joseph Matherne Sr., 78, a native of Lockport and resident of Granbury, Texas, peacefully passed away in his home surrounded by his family Friday, April 17, 2015. A memorial visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral time Friday, April 24, at Samart Funeral Home in Houma. A Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. He is survived by his first wife, Marie Rivet; his wife of 48 years, Evelyn Foret; children, Joann Savage, Tim Matherne, Kevin Matherne, René Matherne, Marilyn Matherne, Debbie Riale, Poncho Matherne, Lt. Col. Ray Matherne and Cisco Matherne along with their spouses; numerous grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. Cliff was born June 10, 1936, in Lockport. Growing up in rural southern Louisiana, Cliff was a hard-working man who touched everyone's hearts with his amusing personality. Following time as a Merchant Marine, Cliff worked for many years as a push-boat captain for Toro Marine. Relocating in 1987, Cliff brought his love of great Cajun food to northern Texas where he is better known as the owner/operator of Cliff's Seafood Restaurant. He retired in 2009 after 22 years in the restaurant business to enjoy life surrounded by family. "Lord, when the world is not enough for everything I want to hold and too much for me to handle on my own, I take comfort in your everlasting love."
