He was a native of Houma and resident of Lafayette, LA. Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 8, 2015 At Chauvin Funeral Home from 5 PM until 9 PM and Thursday April 9,2015 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Bourg from 9 AM until 12:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 PM. Burial will be in St. Ann Catholic Church Cemetery He is survived by his, Wife: Of 73 years Ann Mae Tregre Redmond; Daughter: Marlene & husband Lee R. King of Lafayette; Son: Steven & wife Dianne Redmond of Covington,LASister: Nell Authement of HoumaGrandson: Dr. Jeff & wife Rochelle Redmond of Mandeville; Granddaughters: Jennifer and husband Tim Stringer of Mandeville, Robin Brunet, Annie & husband Jeremy Salazar of Lafayette, Kimetha & husband Chad Broussard of Katy, Tx., 2 great-grandsons, nine great granddaughters and 6 great-great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by his, Son: Rudy Jon Redmond; Parents: Dave and Adele Chauvin Redmond Brothers: Ivy Sr., Jess, Jasper, and David “POSSUM” Redmond Jr.; Sister: Elaine McCarron. Prior to ill health, Bert was a parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church in Bourg. He retired from Texaco with over 35 years as a purchasing agent, was a Notary Public for Texaco Credit Union, Income Tax Consultant, was on the board of Advisors for First Federal Savings and Loan Association, special deputy with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, and was a past commander of the American Legion post in Montegut and justice of the Peace in Ward 6 for many years. He was also a WWII veteran in the 364th Infantry Regiment, 91st Infantry Pine Tree division, where he served from 1943-1945 in Milan Italy and received the Bronze Star. Special thanks to Heart of Hospice, Lafayette and his wonderful caregivers. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Regional Military Museum in Houma.
